Let's Knit Something Together!

One of the things I love best about knitting is the way it draws people together. Over the past few months, I've found lots of joy in continuing to knit with friends, whether that's been attending my local knit night via Zoom or organising online chats with A-C Knitwear friends from around the world! In this spirit, our new capsule collection is all about celebrating the camaraderie and conviviality that knitting can foster. I am so excited to share details about this newest eBook, Something to Knit Together, on sale tomorrow!

The Details

Here's the idea behind our most interactive ebook to date: a capsule collection designed by the oh-so-talented Sarah Hatton, released over the summer months. Each design features lace (with, of course, knit two togethers — get it?) and is just the sort of thing you want to knit with friends. There's that perfect mix of straight forward knitting that you can do while you chat and enough fun and detail to keep you interested and stretching your knitting muscles.

What will you get?

This capsule collection features four stunning patterns: three drool-worthy accessories (two smaller, one large) and a show-stopping cardigan + the sort of video tutorials, hints and tips that you’d expect from an Arnall-Culliford Knitwear publication + a whole heap of fun (more on that in a second).

Key Dates

Starting July 1, patterns will be released at three-weekly intervals — a nice relaxed pace for summer knitting. Here’s the schedule:
First pattern release: 1st July 2020
Second pattern release: 22nd July 2020
Third pattern release: 12th August 2020
Fourth pattern release: 2nd September 2020

There will, of course, be knitalongs to support each design — it’s all about knitting together! — and we think they’ll be our best yet. You can expect lots of helpful tips and video tutorials, the usual lively chat in our Ravelry group, as well as weekly prizes and online knit and chat sessions!

What sorts of techniques will you learn?

As always, we’ll be encouraging and supporting you in trying some new things. If you’re newer to lace knitting, this collection will be great for building up your confidence and skills, but there will also be plenty of tips and tricks for more seasoned knitters too. Each design will have videos on our YouTube channel to walk you through any special techniques including:

  • i-cord tab cast-on method

  • Integrated i-cord edging

  • Grafting the ends of your i-cord

  • Picking up stitches at underarms

  • Keeping track of lace patterns when shaping

  • Working yarn overs in lace patterns

  • Blocking lace

  • Adding and using a lifeline

What yarn will you need?

All four of Sarah’s patterns have been designed using our Something to Knit With 4ply, a scrumptious blend of 70% Highland Wool and 30% Superfine Alpaca that blocks out an absolute treat for lace patterns. You’ll need just one skein for the smallest project, 10 skeins for the largest accessory, between 8-14 skeins for the cardigan, depending on size, and three skeins of one colour and two of a second for the two-colour accessory.

We’ve put together a delightful selection of yarn kits to allow you to jump right into this collection, whether you want to knit a few projects or the whole shebang! Look out for more details in tomorrow’s blog post, but suffice it to say we are really excited about these kits and the savings we’re able to offer you with them!

Community Fun

We love a good knitalong, and we think this one is going to be our best yet! The KAL will be hosted in our Ravelry group where you can join knitters from around the world for cheerful chat and encouragement as we, well, knit something together! We’re also looking forward to hosting Zoom knit and chat sessions — details will be released with each pattern. You can also share your work on social media using the hashtag #SomethingToKnitTogether.

How do you sign up?

The eBook will go sale TOMORROW (Wednesday 17th June 2020) and costs £13.99. If you don’t receive our newsletter, do make sure to sign up as an early bird offer will be dropping in subscribers’ inboxes tomorrow. You’ll also find all the kits in our online shop starting tomorrow, giving you plenty of time to snap one up ahead of our July 1 cast-on party! Can’t wait until tomorrow? Head over to our Ravelry group where we’ve opened a new thread to chat!

A special note to our US Customers

As you might have heard, beginning July 1, Royal Mail is increasing the cost of shipping to the United States, meaning shipping costs to the US will be doubling. We are actively searching out options to keep shipping to the US as economical as possible. In recognition of the inconvenience of these increased charges, we will be offering free US shipping on all our Something to Knit Together yarn kits for one week only, beginning tomorrow. More details will be in tomorrow’s newsletter and blog post, but we wanted to give you the heads up to be on the lookout for this very limited time offer!
