I've been making progress on my Alonzo socks.
My needles have been busy, but it's been a while since I posted any knitting updates over here. We have limited time during the school day to get work done, and the priority over the last few months has been to get the first two books in our Something New to Learn series written and published, launching our yarn range, oh and attending Edinburgh Yarn Festival to both teach and sell. Written out like that, the start of 2018 seems like the craziest plan I've ever seen. Anyhow, both books are done, the yarn is out there and EYF is feeling like a distant memory, which means the I've been getting back to some non-work knitting, and finally have some time to chat about it.

Read moreI remember clearly casting on for my first pair of socks. I was sitting on a sofa at Get Knitted, on a meet-up with a group of knitters from all over the UK, on a morning in January 2008. I worked through that first sock, but it never got a pair as I knitted the first so tightly it wouldn't fit my foot! Since then I have made countless pairs, gradually understanding the construction in more detail, and now I can happily pick up needles and yarn and set off on a sock adventure without requiring a pattern. It is my hope that working through the heel turn tutorial on this month's pattern will set you off on that same adventure.

Is it Wednesday already? This week has flown by, and it's finally time to share with you the list of designers from all over the world, who have contributed to our new book, A Year of Techniques. To say that we are enjoying working with them all doesn't really cover it. This is a dream line up for me - these are the designers whose work I turn to when I want to cast on something new. We really hope that you will enjoy their creations as much as we do. Jim and I spent many hours on the sofa, chatting about who we wanted to work with, and how we wanted our book to be, and the time has finally come to share all our plans. We can't wait to be knitting along with you from March!
